12th Annual Vision and Task Conference

"Change your Brain, Change your Life" will be the subject matters of the 12th Annual “Vision and Task Conference” to be hosted in the city of Santa Barbara on Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Conference will be held in the Garvin Theatre located on the campus of Santa Barbara City College.

Over the last twelve years parents, adults, students, teachers, school administrators, physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, educational therapists, attorneys, probation and court personnel have attended the annual conference on learning and attention disorders.

The 2008 Annual Conference will be featuring Dr. Daniel G. Amen, MD, a child and adult psychiatrist, brain imaging specialist, and the chief executive office of The Amen Clinics, in Newport Beach and Fairfield, California. He is a nationally recognized expert in the fields of “the brain and behavior” and “attention deficit disorders.” Dr. Amen has pioneered the use of brain imaging in clinical psychiatric practice. His clinics have the world’s largest database of functional brain scans for neuropsychiatry.

Dr. Amen did his general psychiatric training at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC and his child and adolescent psychiatry training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dr. Amen has won writing and research awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the US Army and the Baltimore-DC Institute for Psychoanalysis.

Dr. Amen has been published around the world. He is the author of numerous professional and popular articles, 19 books and a number of audio and video programs. Dr. Amen, together with The United Paramount Network and Leeza Gibbons, produced a show called “The Truth About Drinking”, on alcohol education for teenagers, which won the 1999 Emmy Award for Best Educational Television Show.

In 1999, Random House published Dr. Amen’s book Change Your Brain, Change Your Life, which has been on the New York Times bestseller list, translated into 10 languages, and has sold more than 150,000 worldwide. In 2001, Putnam published Dr. Amen’s book Healing ADD, now in paperback. In April 2002, Free Press published Dr. Amen’s book Healing The Hardware of the Soul. In August 2003, Putnam published Dr. Amen’s book Healing Anxiety and Depression and in January 2004 Putnam published Preventing Alzheimer’s Disease written by Dr. Amen and Dr. William R. Shankle.
